According to a survey by Fira de Barcelona’s Caravaning 2025
Motorhomes and campers preferred by 75% of caravanning fans
Models with integrated engines, whether camper vans or motorhomes, are the main protagonists of the sector, according to a survey of visitors to the 2025 International Caravanning Show. Three out of four attendees at the event show a special interest in this type of vehicle in their answers, a trend that coincides with its growing weight in the sector as a whole. Likewise, 72% of caravanners are looking for family tourism experiences.
The survey, carried out during the first weekend of the Caravaning 2025 that is being held until next Sunday at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona, reveals that 75% of those attending the show interested in acquiring a new vehicle bet on motorhomes (40.51%) and campers (34.48%). while 25% who visited the event are still looking for the classic caravan.
On the other hand, accessories have been the other great attraction of visitors to the event, followed by other offers of the show such as tiny houses, tents or trailers. The study also confirms the growing role of families in the world of caravanning. Specifically, 72.4% of those surveyed say that the model they have been interested in would be dedicated to travelling with their partner and children.
These percentages coincide with a trend that is also reflected in the large numbers in the sector. According to data from the Spanish Association of the Caravanning Industry and Commerce (ASEICAR), in 2024 practically 85% of new vehicles registered were campers or motorhomes (specifically 11,820); with an equal distribution between both categories.
The type of buyer, however, is different, while campervans are the preferred model for couples with a normally more contained budget, the second is the one chosen by more experienced caravanners who have expanded the family, need more space and have a little more spending capacity.
All this explains why these vehicles are the protagonists of Caravaning 2025. Vans, in fact, have gone from having a smaller presence in previous editions to occupying around 5,000 m2 of this year’s exhibition area.
In this context, the survey reveals as trends in the sector the growing interest in the adaptations of camper vans, sustainability and low-consumption models, as well as the incipient electric motorization of the sector and the incorporation of technology and the domification of the new models of these motorhomes.
The show, organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Spanish Association of the Caravanning Industry and Commerce (ASEICAR) and the Gremi d’Empresaris del Caravaning de Catalunya (GREMCAR), is a European benchmark in this industry and occupies a total of 34,000 m2 of net surface area in halls 2 and 3 of the Gran Vía venue. Its exhibition area hosts a commercial exhibition with more than 700 models and the most important brands in the sector.
