Freedom holidays: Caravaning 2025 gears up with its best-ever offering for the new traveler

More than 750,000 Spaniards are expected to spend their summer holidays this year traveling by motorhome or campervan, seeking a freer, more sustainable way to travel while staying connected to nature. That’s why preparations are already underway for the next edition of the Caravaning Show, taking place this October at Fira de Barcelona. With over 700 models from top brands, a wide range of accessories, and activities for the whole family, the event will once again demonstrate why it’s the largest in Spain and the second-largest in all of Europe.

Organized by Fira de Barcelona with the support of ASEICAR (Spanish Association of the Caravaning Industry and Trade) and GREMCAR (Caravaning Business Guild of Catalonia), the 37th edition of the International Caravaning Show will take place from October 11 to 19, 2025, in Halls 2 and 3 of the Gran Via venue, featuring 180 exhibitors across 34,000 square meters of net exhibition space.

Visitors will be able to explore more than 700 vehicle models, including caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and off-road adventure vehicles. The organizers expect attendance to surpass 65,000 visitors, reaffirming the recreational vehicle sector’s growing popularity as a travel trend.

Among the leading motorhome, caravan, and camper brands that have already confirmed their attendance are Adria, Benimar, Caravelair, Carthago, Comanche, Concorde, Dethleffs, Dreamer, Elnagh, Fendt, Ford, Frankia, FurgoK, Giottiline, Globecar, Hymer, Knaus, Illusion, McLouis, Mercedes, Mobilvetta, Nissan, Pilote, Rapido, Rimor, Roller Team, Sterckeman, Toyota, Westfalia, Hobby, Challenger, Phoenix, Pössl, Kanus, and Volkswagen, among many others.

“The Caravaning Show will once again serve as the leading platform to discover the latest sector trends, a key driver of sales, and a meeting point that will attract thousands of enthusiasts of mobile tourism from across Spain,” says José Manuel Jurado, president of ASEICAR and of the event’s Organizing Committee.

Susana Colom, president of GREMCAR and co-chair of the Committee, adds, “This year we aim to attract new users, especially young families, to further spread the appeal of nature tourism.”

To offer a complete experience for the entire family, the show will host a range of activities spread across three main themed areas: Travelvaning, with talks on routes, destinations, and practical advice; Gastrovaning, which blends a passion for caravan travel and gastronomy with food trucks; and Caravaning Kids, a space designed for children with games and creative workshops.

There will also be dedicated zones for campervan conversions, rentals, outdoor fashion and gear, and camping-related products, reflecting the sector’s broad range of offerings and diverse audience.

The most sustainable way to travel the world
According to ASEICAR, Spain’s caravaning vehicle fleet now includes 339,500 units, of which 86,000 are motorhomes, 17,500 are campervans, and 236,000 are caravans. This growth is fueled by increasing demand for independent travel experiences closely tied to nature.

Caravaning is also recognized for its low environmental impact. A 2023 study by ASEICAR in collaboration with SGS Spain on the carbon footprint of a typical motorhome trip found that this type of travel can generate up to 30% fewer emissions per person compared to a conventional trip involving air travel, hotel stays, and rental cars. For this reason, the show is committed to highlighting caravaning as a responsible option within the new sustainable tourism model.

2025 Trends: Smart caravans, van life, and slow travel
Caravaning continues its upward trajectory in Spain in 2025. One of the key trends is slow travel—less rigid itineraries and a more relaxed pace. Travelers are prioritizing well-being, nature, and being present in the moment, distancing themselves from fast-paced tourism. Another notable trend is “coolcation” travel, combining holidays with milder climates in response to climate change and the desire to escape extreme heat.

The sector is also drawing in new audiences, including digital nomads and young adventurers, driving growth in campervan conversions. Compact, versatile campers allow people to work from anywhere, making van life—living, traveling, and working from a converted vehicle—an increasingly popular lifestyle.

In parallel, there is growing interest in tiny homes and prefab living modules, which are becoming more common in campgrounds. Technology is also transforming the sector with new smart solutions that let users control their vehicles via smartphone, turning motorhomes into connected homes on wheels.

All these trends will be on full display at the 2025 edition of the International Caravaning Show, which will deliver the most comprehensive offering and experience yet for both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers. With this inclusive vision, the event cements its position as an essential meeting point for industry professionals, brands, and passionate travelers looking for a new way to explore the world.
