L'esdeveniment de Fira es fixa en tot tipus de públics i butxaques
Tech-driven, comfortable and sustainable models: the trends shaping Caravaning 2025
The 38th edition of the International Caravanning Exhibition, organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Spanish Association of the Caravanning Industry and Commerce (ASEICAR) and the Catalonia’s Caravaning Business Association (GREMCAR), will once again be a window into the trends of a leisure proposal that is on the rise. In this sense, José Manuel Jurado, president of ASEICAR and co-president of the Organizing Committee of the Caravaning Show, underlines itinerant tourism as “the most innovative phenomenon that currently energizes the sector”.
It is a very varied profile that includes both the family in search of a different holiday, as well as the fan of outdoor sports, as well as those who enjoy improvising adventurous getaways of a few days. But this variety ends up converging in “the challenge of improving the travel experience in a broad sense”, as Susana Colom, the head of GREMCAR and co-president of the Caravanning Organising Committee together with José Manuel Jurado, points out.
A quality, high-tech and sustainable trip
To achieve this goal, Colom reveals that brands are focusing on offering solutions and products that have an impact on issues such as safety, comfort both on the road and during stops, and on the adaptability or modularity of vehicles depending on the travel plan. In this sense, one of the great trends in the world of caravanning is digitalisation and connectivity, aimed at monitoring key aspects related to the trip.
This takes the form of, for example, the integration of intelligent systems to control functions such as lighting, heating or the vehicle’s water level; systems that, beyond being integrated into the new models, can be added to existing caravans. In terms of vehicle interior design, manufacturers are increasingly opting for innovative layouts focused on comfort, which translate into separate driver’s cabs, facing seats, modular or rotating bathrooms to optimize space, or L-shaped kitchens, among other formulas.
It is also worth noting the increase in electrified models or models with some type of hybridization, a trend that reflects the sector’s growing commitment to sustainability. In this sense, more manufacturers are opting for solutions that combine energy efficiency and autonomy, which also fits in with a tourist proposal whose main attraction is the promise of leisure connected to the environment and respectful of it.
Campervan conversion and affordable caravans
The great advantage of caravan tourism is that it offers a leisure that is not corseted, connected to the environment and that “adapts to all budgets“, stresses Jurado. This is demonstrated by the wide range of vehicle models that exist and the effort of the sector to offer alternative ways to purchase, such as rental, the range of first-price caravans or camper vans.
In this sense, this year the show will once again give special prominence to campervan conversion as the star formula to get started in the world of caravanning. Specifically, the public will be able to see first-hand an infinite number of camper models, as well as different modular solutions to convert vans easily and without having to make a large investment. As far as the latest developments are concerned, the show will once again have a wide range of the so-called mini-caravans, models that opt for basic equipment and light materials to reduce their price as much as possible and be below 20,000 euros.
The 38th International Caravanning Show 2025 will occupy a net 34,000m2 in halls 2 and 3 of Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. In this space there will be an extensive exhibition area in which the main brands in the sector will show attendees more than 700 vehicle models, and a more informative part, which will have an ambitious program of presentations and an area of personalized advice.
